With mezzo-soprano Jessica Trainor Tascucu.
From the composer, Felix Jarrar:
On the heels of a wonderful FB live interview with Audrey Yoder, I’m thrilled to announce my latest upcoming project. My song cycle ‘Happy’ for mezzo-soprano and bass-baritone will be getting premiered via livestream on Tuesday September 22nd at 7pm. ‘Happy’ is about about how I came to peace with past traumas during various episodes of depression in my life. I cried many tears and healed pain from old wounds during the writing process. This is the first time I’ve been so public with my mental health journey and my life with depression and anxiety. Musically, the song incorporates many influences. The first half is very “classical” sounding, while the second half is predominantly pop influenced. I wrote both the music and words for this set. I’m thrilled to have Jessica Trainor Tasucu and Andrew Jurden join me for this 100% virtual collaboration. It is always a gift to have such wonderful collaborators to bring a new piece to life, and this is no exception. Stay tuned from more exclusive content and info about ‘Happy’ on my [Felix Jarrar’s] social media as we get closer to the premiere date!
